I happened upon this rest stop while on a scenic drive from Portland to the Pacific. Located at the trailhead of the Steam Donkey Trail (Steam Donkeys were the name given to locomotives once used for hauling timber out of the forest), the facility was perched among beautiful landscape and large mossy trees.
The interior, however, was of the standard highway rest stop quality; broken, dirty and stinky. The polished metal mirrors were not so polished. And when I say MIRRORS, I actually mean MIRROR because one of them had apparently been torn off the wall. The peculiarly sour stench was tolerable only for a short period.
Also worth noting was the unprecedented decision to give the user a choice between stainless steel AND porcelin sinks.
