Nice… as should be expected from a government institution. This rest room was kind of refreshing in that it reintroduced some old ideas that should never have gone away. I mean it’s great that there are the antiseptic Infrared people sensors that keep you from having to touch the flush handle with your hands, but before those were invented there were FLUSH PEDALS! Woo WOO! Motorcycle Kick-Start style flushers added some serious excitement back into the experience.

Other than that, the restroom was fairly clean, well stocked, and had a nice odor, as well as a comfortable ambient temperature.

On a personal note, if I had designed the restrooms in the Air & Space museum, I would have designed each restroom like the museum section it was in (Military-Style restrooms for the WWII and Sea-Air Operations section, Shuttle-Style Sucker tubes for the Space Shuttle section and so on…). But, alas…nobody asked me.

Little Stevie’s is one of the few places in Boston that serves New York style pizza. Good stuff. They don’t give out free cups of water and if you go there on a hot day, oh criminee, I hope you have a towel with you because there’s no air conditioning and even less circulation. You’ll look like you went swimming… in a pool of perspiration. But the pizza is worth it, especially at 3 am after tipping a few back. The restroom is.. hmmm.. how you say… a living hellhole. For this reason, it is recommended you tip more than a couple back before giving this one a test drive. Oh and there’s no lock on the door.

See Boylston street past Mass Ave. on your left (walking away from Mass Ave).

Clean, comfy, and private

I was tooling around the mall one day when the urge struck. I was at the other end of the mall from the public restrooms, and they’re usually crowded and dirty anyway, so I ducked into Arby’s and located the appropriate door.

Imagine my surprise when I discovered one of the most private and cozy public restrooms I’ve ever seen. The lighting was soft and warm, giving it a homey feel. I believe there was only one stall, but what a stall it was! It was roomy and clean, with a heavy door that went almost from floor to ceiling – almost a separate room, really. My evacuation was as peaceful and relaxed as one could want. I didn’t want to leave.

A recommended stop for the serious restroom connoisseur.

Terrible

I was enjoying a couple of drinks with some friends when I felt something brewing downstairs, so I excused myself and located the men’s room.

What a disappointment. The room was narrow and cramped, with one urinal and a sink jammed in next to a single stall. Calling it a "stall" is a bit generous, actually: it was little more than one panel wall with a very low door. Other bathroom-goers could probably look in the toilet without going out of their way.

On the plus side, it was relatively clean and well-stocked, but that doesn’t make up for the stall. A bathroom should leave a little something to the imagination!
