This charming deli/cafe in Highland Park may have the best lafkes in town, but their hard-to-reach restroom leaves a bit to be desired.

To get there, you must first traverse a narrow pathway through the kitchen (right past the borscht), down a flight of stairs and down yet another hallway. The restrooms were quite ragged with water-damaged drop ceilings, overflowing waste recepticles and mismatched tile. A can of Scrubble-Bubble, an aerosol spray can, and a stack of toilet paper rested on the back of the toilet. Despite the quaint stench, nearly everything else seemed at least up to the minimum health standards.

Needless to say, though, I was eager to head back upstairs to tend to my delicious salami and provolone sandwich.
