When I first entered this public park restroom, I thought I had mistaken the men's room for a top secret government aeronautic research facility. The sleek stainless steel toilets, sinks, and urinals are reminiscent of a Stealth bomber with their radar-defying obtusified angles jutting every which way. Since when did Frank Gehry design bathroom fixtures? Later, a park employee explained to me the benefits of using stainless steel - primarily that it is resistant to M-80s. The cold war may be over, but you can always rely on the never-ending arms race between restroom designers and wayward hooligans with explosives. The walls were tasteful two-toned concrete. Higher up, it switched to a wire screen and lath border in order to facilitate ventilation. The toilet in the men's room was quite accessible with a large stall. In addition, there were two urinals of varying heights. The sink had rather ambiguous buttons which resulted in a few seconds of confusion while I searched for any sort of knob or foot pedal to get the water flowing.
