Rochambo
Milwaukee, WI
Reviewed December 18th, 2004
It is not clear whether this coffee shop on Milwaukee's East Side was named after the French hero of the American Revolution, Comte de Rochambeau. Why even speculate? After all, we are here to review restrooms, not ascertain the origins of the names of quirky bohemian teahouses.Of course, every quirky bohemian teahouse needs a quirky bohemian restroom and this loo fits perfectly. Though not sporting the same brazen yellow of the outside of the building, there is a similar muck green on the trimwork mixed with orange-red walls. An imploded paper towel dispenser hung desperately baring it's insides, as if painfully uttering his last words.. "take... one... please... " God bless him. He was a good paper towel dispenser. And speaking of God; scrawled in sloppy pencil on the walls were the words "No Not Honor Satan." Okay.
Other notable features include the psychadelic hand lettered RESTROOM sign and the beautiful shadowbox mounted above the toilet containing two baby owls.
