Letaba Campground - Kruger National Park

Few people know that baboons have the largest canine teeth of any animal in the world. Bigger than lions. They are also prone to handling and sometimes throwing their own feces. Despite this habit, they are actually quite intelligent and belligerent, able to, say, rip your arm off and use it as a tool to beat you to death.

I really had to go. Hmm... To make matters worse, the person who used this restroom before me had not heeded the sign, as I found the door slightly ajar. Either that or those insidious baboons had figured out doorknobs.

Did I mention that I really had to go? I was fully aware that my gastrointestinal distress was going to make me less able to defend myself should I find myself face to face with a snarling beast intent on sinking his fangs into my soft flesh.

Opening that door was one of the bravest things I have ever done in my life. You will be pleased to know that the restroom was happily baboon free. The few creepy crawlies that lived there are par for the course in Kruger Park, so I paid them no heed. In fact, the whole experience became very positive when I found a stall with a nice closing door, a clean flushing toilet, running water, and the great rare luxury in this part of the world - a whole new roll of toilet paper.
