Longfellow Grill
Minneapolis, MN
Reviewed February 22nd, 2005
Camped in a new retail and housing development (take 2, the first version burned to the ground shortly before opening) along the Mississippi River, the Longfellow Grill relies on the tried and tested formula for success in use at the other neighborhood-named grills (in Edina and Highland Park) of the Twin Cities. That means lots of bright primary colors, neo-retro design stylings, and solid reliable equipment with clean lines. The restrooms are located down a long hall and through another door - which then opens into a larger hallway with additional storage areas and sundry other doors - but I was just concentrating on the one labeled "MEN". Inside, the walls were a saturated pastelly green, a slight departure from the regular palette - but more soothing overall. There were plenty of modern stalls (stainless!), urinals and sinks to keep the crowds satiated.
Immaculate tidiness and functionality ratings were due in part to the fact that this new construction has only been open a few weeks, but I have no doubt the attentive and energetic staff would be quick to fix any serious problems as they arise.
