Bobby and Steve's Auto World

Bobby and Steve's Auto World truly is an auto world. With attention to detail usually reserved for middle-of-nowhere truck stop oasis', Bobby and Steve have crafted a complete auto destination in the heart of Minneapolis. Except everything is a bit newer and cleaner than what you may find when filling up in the middle of North Dakota. There's snacks galore, magazines, sunglasses, souvenir trinkets, 128 oz. sodas, and of course restrooms. But these aren't the usual "grab the key at the counter, stock up on rubbers at the vending machine, scrawl your ex-wifes phone number on the wall, dribble a little on the floor as you go" restrooms. They better not be - because a large round sign suspended above the door claims this territory as "CLEAN REST ROOMS". Forget for a second that "restrooms" is not two words and let's look into the audaciousness of that statement.

Bobby and Steve's is located within walking distance of the Metrodome, home of the Minnesota Twins, the Minnesota Vikings and numerous other events which can draw huge crowds (to the tune of 60,000 people) of traffic, pedestrian and otherwise. It is also located right at the on/off ramp of the busy north-south highway 35W. The amount of bodily fluids passing through these pipes on any given day could be enough to fill an olympic-sized swimming pool in a matter of hours. Yet when I visited, most everything was spotless. There was a crumpled up paper towel resting on the sink, but really, it could have been much worse. A checklist on the back of the day explained the relative tidiness. Employees of this fine establishment have been checking up regularly on the status of their restroom. An additional note passes some responsibility to the patron also; noting that you should notify the clerk if you witness any untidiness. So I guess that wadded up paper towel on the sink was my fault.
