Blue Moon Coffee Cafe

Blue Moon Coffee Cafe

In the world of independent coffee shops, hodgepodgery is a welcomed practice. Step into any neighborhood beanery that doesn't have "Star" or "bucks" in it's name and you will find a plethora of yard-sale chairs and tables pieced together with mismatched sofas and eclectic paint jobs. This element of college-room chic is reflected in the restroom at this convivial corner kissaten - albeit with a loose theme. Carrying through on the "Blue Moon" idea, the dark blue/voilet ceiling is covered with an array of stars and planets. I was not able to detect any specific constellations, but there was a dynamic cluster of shapes which appeared as if they were being funnelled into a black hole. Oddly enough this cosmic void was appropriately located just above the toilet. The only other moon-themed item was a pre-Renaissance print of a moon chart of some sort. A jaunty ladybug mirror (with pipe cleaner antennae) was mounted above the sink next to an awkwardly placed GFI outlet. The sink was supported by two steel rods.
