Not only will you find clean and spacious restrooms here in this rest area/ state park but you'll also find a kind janitor who will offer to fill your water jugs from the spigot in his office instead of letting you struggle stand by the stupid drinking fountain while your "hydration bladder" of whatever they're called anymore, takes forever and a half to fill up. After you finish eating your PB&J sandwich and get done footing it up to desolate and miraculous Shovel Point and falling down the stairs that lead to the Lake Superior beach and trying to knock littler stones off bigger stones with medium sized stones, you can go back up to the main office and check out the facilities. One thing you'll find at this restroom that often goes unnoticed is soft, hidden lighting that radiates from underneath a brown wood border. The effect is immediately calming to all those who approach Tettegouche from the north and suffer the nerve racking situation of trying to take a left turn on Highway 61. In case you forgot, the interior of Tettegouche state park contains the most scenic vistas and challenging hiking trails anywhere in Minnesota.
